Job description

We have developed a camera-based mapping tool for mapping marine plastics. This software ingests camera images, collected during expeditions, and returns object detections. Recently, the volume of incoming expedition data has been increasing strongly, such that assistance with the processing and validation is required. After an initial training, the workflow steps will be easy to follow. However, there is also opportunity for creative improvements. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

The data labeling and processing assistant will be responsible for the accurate validation of the data produced by our cameras. This means visually inspecting and sorting out false positive detections (glare and waves) from true plastic objects. The labeled data will be used to improve the operational object detection model. Please note that data validation can be highly repetitive. Apart from data validation, the assistant will occasionally be asked for help in the activation of processing scripts and data management (uploading/downloading/storing datasets).
